If you purchased The Telephone Interviewer's Handbook: How to Conduct Standardized Conversations (ISBN 978-0-7879-8638-4, paperback, http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0787986380.html ) in spring 2007, please download the errata sheet posted here. The book contains over 80 errors which appeared after I approved the page proofs. The publisher, Jossey-Bass/John H. Wiley & Sons, is in the process of recalling and reprinting it. They say that the second printing will be completed by mid-July. People who purchased the flawed copy should be able to get free new ones, but the procedure is not yet established. If you find any additional errors, please let me know.

From 1992  to 2003, I founded UO's Oregon Survey Research Laboratory, managing 280+ projects, bringing in about $8 million in small grants and contracts, developing and documenting protocols, gathering data on basic methodological questions, and hiring and training staff, a staff of about 30, of whom about 15 were in fully benefited positions (including one postdoc, three Faculty Fellows, four Graduate Research Assistants, plus  about six more graduate students who completed their PhDs while in OSRL). I returned to basic research, writing, and teaching with huge relief. Two years later, the two guys who replaced me proved they were not up to the task, and UO closed OSRL. For a history of OSRL, see: http://survey.rgs.uky.edu/nnsp/newsletters/nnsp42.pdf . Most of OSRL's data and reports are archived with the University Library's Scholar's Bank ( https://scholarsbank.uoregon.edu/dspace/ ).
