Basic Program Contents

The series of courses dealing with sociological theory and methods are the core of the program. The theory courses deal with the key issues and perspectives that have shaped the discipline.

Methods courses are designed to enable students to achieve competence in conducting sociological research of various kinds. These include a wide range of qualitative and quantitative approaches.

All graduate students are required to have at the time of admission, or to obtain within their first two years of residence, a basic knowledge of statistics for the social sciences and basic knowledge of theoretical foundations of the discipline.
