We have approximately 20 different opportunities for volunteers. Most of our positions involve clerical work, but for students who are interested in exploring a career in law enforcement, this is a great opportunity to work side by side with civilian and sworn employees. The major of our volunteer positions are open Monday through Friday, business hours. Our evening and weekend opportunities are extremely limited.
Specific skills or experiences needed:
Skills in listen and communicating
Supportive philosophy of the Eugene Police Department and comfortable working within a police environment which sometimes involves people-related emergencies and crisis/conflict management
Commitment to comply with confidentiality requirements and policies governing police operations
Positive and supportive attitude with people of all backgrounds and abilities
Time requirements:
Most positions require 3+ hours per week, with at least a 3-month commitment.
Internships are offered fall, winter, spring, and summer terms.
Contact the organization 2-3 months before the time you wish to intern there.
The volunteer placement process includes an application, interview, background check, and orientation. It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to go through the placement process.
