University of Oregon : Department of Sociology

The Committee for Countering Military Recruitment, a joint project of

the local peace groups, Community Alliance of Lane County (CALC) and

Eugene Peaceworks, is looking for a U of O intern to expand its work

to the U of O campus. To date CCMR has focused primarily on high

school youth toward its goal of getting accurate information to youth

considering enlisting in the military, information that military

recruiters leave out.

This 10 hour/week internship would involve working in coordination

with the existing project. Tasks would include:

* Attending training sessions

* Distributing existing written information to appropriate offices &

locations on campus

* Meeting with personnel in UO Career office to inform them of the

issues

* Tabling or arranging tabling at appropriate UO events

* Developing ways to get information out of UO students

* Developing a group of UO activists on this issue

* Assisting with events CCMR puts on in the community and other CCMR

activities as time is available
