OutDoor High School @ Northwest Youth Corps

Position description:

This is an alternative high school offering an environmental curriculum that incorporates experiential community service work projects in environmental restoration with traditional high school academics and field science experiences.

Specific skills or experiences needed:

Any or all of: experience with at-risk youth, outdoor recreation, and/or classroom instruction.

Interns may decide to spend their time in the classroom or the field. They have the option of joining a crew or teaching a unit in an elective (such as music or art). They may wish to join students on one of the week-long overnight educational trips.

Time requirements:

A 10-week or 6-month commitment is required. The agency will work with interns and the program to tailor a schedule that satisfies all parties. The hours are 8:40 am – 3:40 pm (or as arranged).

Internships are offered fall, winter, spring, and summer terms.
