Portland Business Alliance

The mission of the Business Development Department at the Portland Business Alliance is to increase the economic vitality and the attractiveness of the downtown community. Offers exceptional references when seeking future full-time employment. Provides unparalleled exposure to the business leadership in Portland. Contributes to the on-going revitalization of Downtown Portland and provides an active education and opportunity for the selected candidates.

Position description:
Become a part of the Business Development Department, Portland Business Alliance
Contribute to the retention of existing businesses in downtown through market research
Work with downtown businesses through retail promotions
Work on other development projects
Attend meetings and events of the Portland Business Alliance

Specific skills or experiences needed:
At least two years college experience working toward a degree in the areas of Communications, Marketing, Business, Urban Planning, Economic Development, Geography or Market Research.
Be motivated and display sound judgment, good decision making, and communication skills.
Display personal dedication to complete complicated and detailed undertakings within a prescribed period of time.
Should also have a general understanding of issues confronting the downtown business environment and be able to interact with businesses and retailers on a daily basis.

Time requirements:
A minimum of 20 hours per week is desired, with a flexible schedule.
Internships are offered fall or winter 2004.
There is a financial stipend.
