Relief Nursery, Inc.: Therapeutic Early Childhood Program/Outreach

Position description:
The Relief Nursery provides comprehensive early intervention and family preservation services for low-income county families with children between birth and six years of age, who have a history of, or who are at risk of, physical, emotional, or sexual abuse or child neglect. Volunteers work as classroom assistants, as respite child care assistants, as bus riders, as child care providers, as front desk staffers, in development and public relations, marketing and fundraising, in the kitchen, or in landscaping.

Specific skills or experiences needed:
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Possess maturity to discuss issues that arise due to working with diverse and at-risk populations
Act in a way consistent with a belief system that values diversity among people
Maintain professional appearance and attitude
Attend mandatory trainings

Time requirements:
Commitment varies from 1 ½ to 12 hours per week, for a minimum of 3 months.
Most positions involve morning or afternoon times.
Internships are offered fall, winter, and spring terms.
