The Restorative Justice Program at Community Mediation Services is soliciting applications for three to nine month internships with the agency (all terms). This could involve anywhere from 3 to 6 hours per week. Reliability is important. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who wants to make a commitment to learning about mediation and conflict resolution between juvenile offenders and their victims in a progressive, supportive, “hands on” environment.

The intern would assist the Restorative Justice Program Manager in all aspects of program management, case tracking and record keeping. The job will primarily involve office work (typing, mailing, data collection, and phone work) regarding cases involving juvenile offenders and their victims; clerical support for public relations and program development is also included.

In addition to helping with the normal operational work, the intern would also be given some special projects (depending on the intern’s own interests and skills). Self-motivation and initiative would be important in this area. An example of a project would be researching new resources for Restorative Discipline and Mediation within schools, and developing some of our own resources in this field for education and training.

Another special project area involves the development of a new Human Rights program for discrimination-oriented cases from Lane County and Springfield. Interns interested in statistical analysis would also be able to focus on this.

Some training opportunities may be available (at no cost) to interns who wish to gain experience in mediation and restorative justice work.
