ShelterCare is a private, nonprofit human services agency, operating 11 programs, maintaining 10 facilities, and supporting a community-wide continuum of care for three service populations: 1) families with children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, 2) adults disabled by acquired traumatic brain injury, and 3) adults diagnosed with severe, persistent mental illness, many of whom are dealing with homelessness issues.
ShelterCare has created a collation of clients, program staff, and others whose purpose is to assist artists in ShelterCare programs to acquire materials and display their works. A group of 20-25 individuals has been meeting to organize in order to decide on the direction for the coalition.
Position description: Artists Coalition Project Coordinator
Provide leadership and support for this group, with support from program staff and Development Team staff
Schedule, coordinate, and attend AC meetings and events
Work closely with clients and staff to facilitate the group process and activities
Research sources for funding and in-kind contributions of materials and supplies
Work with clients to write grant and funding proposals
Serve as liaison between programs, clients, administration staff, and community
Attend and help coordinate events, booths, art shows
Help monitor and evaluate this project
Specific skills or experiences needed:
Interest in fundraising and project management
Interest in organizing under-represented populations, event planning, group facilitation
Knowledge of and ability to operate office equipment, prioritize tasks, and take minutes
Ability to manage time
Ability to interact with ShelterCare staff
Ability to interact with clients with severe persistent mental illness and brain injury
Ability to work with funders and donors in a pleasant, tactful, and courteous manner
Ability to work with individuals with varied backgrounds
Ability to work varied hours, some weekends, attend community arts events, and meetings during week days
Time requirements:
Approximately 5-10 hours per week.
Internships are offered fall, winter, spring, and summer terms.
