Alpha Kappa Delta
Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the International Sociology Honor Society.
The University of Oregon chapter is the Alpha Chapter in the state of Oregon, founded in 1926. Students who are declared sociology majors, have an overall GPA of 3.3+, and have a major GPA of 3.0+ in 16 credits or more of sociology coursework may apply to become members of AKD.
Each winter, the sociology department invites majors who meet the eligibility criteria to submit applications to become lifetime members. In the spring, the department inducts new members into the honor society at a formal ceremony with a guest speaker.
